Uganda Great Apes luxury safari tour
Day one: Begin the Uganda Great Apes safari with arrival into Entebbe and transfer to your overnight accommodation. Overnight at the Lake Victoria Laico Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. Hotel amenities include Swimming pool, spa, and gymnasium plus a nearby golf course. Should time allow this day, a day trip to the Ngamba Island (at an extra fee) is possible. Afterwards, transfer by speedboat to the Island and view the chimpanzees from a viewing platform. The Uganda Great Apes safari guides and caregivers of the chimpanzees on the Island give knowledgeable information. This covers the day by day activities on how they care for rescued animals at the sanctuary.

Day two: After breakfast, you transfer to the airport in Entebbe for a short flight, close to the Kibale forest. The Aerolink flight takes approximately an hour before landing at the airfield in Kasese. The safari guide in a custom built 4×4 vehicle will thereafter depart for Fort portal arriving for lunch. The luxuriously apportioned Kyaninga Safari Lodge is the base for the next three days of Chimpanzee trekking at Kibale Forest. The afternoon would be spent by the swimming pool at the lodge or simply relaxing at a balcony overlooking the Crater Lake. At this private bliss of nature, meals and overnight would be at the Kyaninga Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day three: Kibale forest Chimp trek
Breakfast at the lodge and thereafter, take a short drive to the park gate for the morning briefing. The day’s Chimpanzee tracking commences with guides and other chimp trekkers. This lasts about an hour of educational lectures about the code of conduct in the forest. The walking safari in the forest along the marked paths begins with the head guide and ends at the park office. On the walk in the tropical rain forest at Kibale, you will be stopping along to listen to sounds. Baboons scavenging the forest floors for roots as well as small insects and fruit, colorful birds of the forest calling.
Out in the tree tops, chimpanzees vocalizing with the unmistakable hoot pants call. chimpanzee viewing takes an hour for pictures, following them and seeing them take to the treetops. Later, on the way back from the chimp trek, you may see black and white colubus monkeys and endangered red colubus. Red tailed monkeys, occasional duiker and other wildlife of Kibale National park. Lunch, dinner and overnight are served at the Kyaninga Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch then dinner.
Day four: Craters and Caves Fortportal
Breakfast at the lodge and have the day spent relaxing at the pool, eventually a private massages at the lodge. Relaxing as one recovers from the effects of the previous day’s trekking. Should it be possible, your safari guide will be available for an early afternoon scenic safari through the picturesque Craters. In the Fort portal region, an option is a village walk in the nearby communities of cultivators who at the same time take you around. See the tea plantations surrounding these magnificent craters. Later, a short drive back to the Lodge for an optional game of tennis. Alternatively, badminton before dinner and overnight at the Kyaninga Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day five: Morning breakfast at the Lodge and later on, check out with a picnic lunch. Your African Safaris guide will depart for the Mountain gorilla sanctuary through the Tea plantations of Kyamuhunga and the farmlands of bananas out of the rift valley. Later, you ascend through the Kigezi Mountain system and may see the Volcanoes of the Muhabura towards Kabale. After a picnic lunch at a view point, the winding road heads up into the high elevations of the Mountains. Later on, head to the Nkuringo area where your lodge is located. At this elevation, the lodge is that high, that you feel you are in the clouds. Meals and the overnight stay at the Clouds Gorilla Lodge Bwindi.
Day six: Gorilla trekking
Morning wake-up call by the birds of the forest before a substantial breakfast of passion fruit. Freshly baked bread and pastries, local Ugandan tea and coffee and a set of other servings. With a picnic lunch (subject to trekking distance), thereafter, morning drive to the assembly spot for the gorilla briefing. Your African safari guide will be on hand to assist and with the gorilla group of your choice. You decide, should you wish to hike longer or trek a closer gorilla group of your choice.
The Uganda wildlife Authority ranger guide then briefs the trekking party on the conduct while with gorillas. During the gorilla trek, groups are llocated to individual gorilla safari trackers and guides. Trekking to the gorilla family takes as little as a couple of minutes or as long as 4 hours. The Mountain gorillas will be found in mountain terrain where viewing takes place. Should need arise due to physical or medical reasons, it is possible to request for a stretcher service. Tourists are moved by porters to the gorilla viewing point ahead of time at an extra fee. The gorillas are observed at close quarters for approximately 60 minutes. Later one, the short trek or walk back to the waiting vehicles brings the tour back to the Clouds gorilla lodge. Have refreshments and thereafter, dinner before overnight at Bwindi. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day Seven: Morning breakfast at the Lodge later, bid farewell to the lodge staff at the gorilla lodge before taking the winding road down to the nearby Kisoro Airfield where the waiting scheduled flight will connect to Entebbe airport to connect for your outbound flight out of Uganda.
