Polish World War Refugees Uganda safari, 8 days
Day one: On arrival at the Airport, your guide will pick up then transfer to the Hotel for check in. Later, a brief introduction about the Polish World War Refugees Uganda safari tour. The following day’s pick up time will be finalized before your overnight at the Lake Victoria Laico Hotel.
Day Two: Morning breakfast at the Hotel and check out before driving to Kampala. You will be shown the site of the former referral hospital in Nakasero. Which was the centre for European and polish referrals most serious medical conditions. Later, we will drive out to the Jinja road and have an early lunch in Mukono. Later on, proceeding to shores of Lake Victoria to the Camp Kojja Lakeside area. The Polish memorial cemetery and camp had been established here in 1942. With luck, interact with the local communities in the area who are familiar with the history of the settlement. Later, you will transfer to Jinja arriving for dinner and overnight at the Haven.
Day Three: The first batch of the polish refugees arrived in Namasagali one of the ports on the river Nile from the rail journey out of Mombasa in Kenya. We will have breakfast and drive to Namasagali to see the spot where the families were transported by small vessels along the Nile, into Lake Kyoga up to the Masindi Port. After a picnic lunch, we will transfer through the Kayunga road to Masindi Arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight at the Masindi Hotel.
Day Four: Camp Nyabyeya Uganda
After breakfast at the Hotel, your guide will drive you to the Masindi Port where the Polish families arrived by water transport of the East African Harbors and railways before boarding vehicles to the new homes near Masindi. In the afternoon after a lunch break, we will transfer to the Nyabyeya area where settlements of over 3,000 people took place. You will visit graveyards and the remnants of the church. As well as other ruins of the schools and farmlands left behind following the end of the war and later repatriated back to Poland in 1951. In the evening, you will transfer back to your overnight Hotel at Masindi for dinner and Overnight.
Day Five: Morning breakfast and transfer to Murchison Falls National park for some wildlife Viewing. You then drive through the Budongo Forest and on to the top of the Murchison Falls to view the white water rapids from close quarters. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer across the Nile to the lodge arriving in time for lunch after taking the ferry across the Nile. Spend the evening along the banks at the pool or in the bar and restaurant. Meals and overnight at Murchison River Lodge.
Day Six: Murchison falls National park safari
Breakfast early then begin a morning game viewing tour through the Buligi circuit in search of Giraffe, Spotted Hyena, Elephant, Hartebeest and Oribi. Also look out for cape buffalo, Lions, Leopard, Baboons, Patas monkeys and birds of prey. In the afternoon, return for lunch and later take a cruise on the Nile through colonies of crocodiles, Hippos, water birds up to the former landing post for the steamer ferries on the Nile. In the evening, return to base and check in at the lodge to have dinner before overnight at the Murchison River Lodge.
Day Seven: Morning breakfast thereafter cross the Nile with a mid morning ferry with picnic lunches. Proceed through Masindi and Kampala before heading out to Entebbe to arrive in the early evening. Overnight at the Lake Victoria Laico Hotel.
Day Eight: After breakfast, the guide transfers to the airport for the return flight home.
