Kidepo safari uganda wildlife, 3 days 2 nights tour

Day one:              Very early morning departure out of Kampala through Luwero and the district of Bombo. The Kidepo safari commences through the mixed farms into Nakasongola and finally you drive through the northern region of Uganda. Here, the river Nile breaks into some spectacular white water rapids at the Karuma falls. You will then proceed to Gulu arriving in time for lunch before driving along the Kitgum road. Then, drive through a section of traditional homesteads built out of straw grass and earth. The last section of the first day is through some semi desert vegetation of Borassus palms and Savannah grassland. You arrive late in the evening at the Kidepo National park for dinner then overnight. Stay at the Ngamoru Wilderness Camp or Apoka Lodge for the Luxury option.

Day two:              Morning breakfast at the Lodge then start the morning safari into the Kidepo National park. This hidden gem is tucked away at the border of Southern Sudan and Kenya in a protected area of about 1,442 square kilometers. The wildlife to see in the area include some of the rarest species of animals. These include; Hunting dogs seen in large numbers hunting at dawn. Bat-eared Foxes, the agile Cheetah observed patrolling the golden plains. Striped Hyena scavenging right in close proximity to the resident Lions on the rocky outcrops. Aard Wolf, greater and Lesser Kudus, Chandler’s mountain Reedbuck and beisa oryx. Also, Klipspringers Bright’s Gazelle, elephants, oribi, burchell’s zebra, bush pig, warthogs, Rothschild giraffe, cape buffaloes and the Ostrich.

Kidepo wildlife safari and culture

The afternoon lunch is served at the Ngamoru Wilderness camp, before spending the evening at a traditional Karamojong Manyatta being entertained by the local tribesmen. You may take part in the traditional dances with the locals here and get to tour around the traditional homesteads made out of straw and cow dung. The Karamojong are predominantly cattle keepers and you will be introduced to their animals, as well as joining in living their way of life for the short stay you will be at Kidepo. In the evening, you will return to your accommodations for dinner and overnight at the Ngamoru Wilderness Camp or Apoka Lodge for the Luxury option.

Day Three:          After breakfast, another long drive back from the National park gets you back the same way through Kitgum and Gulu where you have a picnic lunch. Then later, you return through the Murchison falls conservation area and the Karuma falls before arriving late in the evening in Kampala.
