7 Day Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Trek
Day one:
Commence the Uganda Rwanda Gorilla trek with the Travelust African Safaris representative meeting at the Kigali international airport. Later, transfer to your overnight Hotel for overnight at the Luxurious Kigali Serena Lodge. Meal plan – own arrangement.
Day Two: After breakfast, we begin our Uganda Rwanda Gorilla trek by driving north into the Mountain Gorilla Sanctuary. The scenic drive through the mountains, will highlight the beauty of Rwanda, while the lushness of the area would warrant some stopovers for picture opportunities. We proceed to the nearby Musanze town and drive to the Mountain base where Gorilla trekking starts. Arrive at the hotel for lunch, then have an early afternoon either enjoying the vistas of the mount Muhabura, Sabyinyo and Gahinga. Alternatively, explore the nearby communities who share the same neighborhood as the Mountain Gorillas. In the evening, you will have dinner, before overnight at the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Meal plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day Three: Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
Morning breakfast and transfer to the park for the day’s gorilla trekking. You will be allowed to view the Mountain gorillas for about an hour, before heading back to the Lodge to freshen up. Alongside the Mountain gorillas in Rwanda, there also exists communities of the endangered Golden Monkeys in the forest, as well as birds and other wildlife adapted to the Alpine conditions. You may also get to meet some of the support staff that worked with Dian Fossey during the habituation and research of the mountain gorillas in this area. Meals and overnight will be at the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Meal plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day Four: The Morning after breakfast, then drive alongside the Volcanoes, past the Lakes Bulera and head to the nearby Cyanika border crossing. After immigration procedures, eventually cross over into Uganda and drive to the Bwindi Impenetrable National park. The drive is through some beautiful, tropical African Rain forests of Bwindi, teeming with all kinds of monkeys, forest elephants, butterflies, forest duikers,very colorful birds and rivers. Thereafter, proceed to Buhoma to arrive for lunch at the Camp. The evening may be spent visiting the Batwa communities or doing self guided walks around the Impenetrable forest. Meals and overnight at the Gorilla’s Resort Bwindi.

Day Five: Gorilla trekking in Uganda
Breakfast will be served at the dinning hall by 07:00am and then, the staff escorts to the nearby gorilla briefing point. Later, with the guides and trackers, you will start the morning gorilla trekking exercise which involves some climbs. The trackers ahead will spot the mountain gorillas before allowing a full hour of watching the gorillas feed, play, chest thump, mock charge or simply gaze back at the gorilla trekkers! We will have our picnic lunches in the jungle, before trekking back to our safari vehicles to be driven back to camp. Dinner and overnight at the Gorilla’s Resort Bwindi.

Day Six: Morning breakfast and transfer through Lake Bunyonyi for lunch. The delicacy here, is the freshly caught cray fish as you enjoy the beauty of the Volcanic Lake. Later, transfer back to the border and proceed to Kigali for overnight at the Kigali Serena. Meal plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day Seven: Rwanda Safari Tour
Morning breakfast and transfer to the Kigali International Airport for departure.

Mountain Gorilla Safari Rules
- When you encounter the gorillas always remember to be submissive
- Do not look at them straight in the face, rather give a sideways glance.
- Do not stand over them, crouch instead and stay in a tight group.
- Speak in whispers whenever possible.
- Do not use flash photography.
- Gorillas are wild
Most visitors believe that the gorillas are tame. On the contrary, Mountain gorillas are wild and despite a level of habituation. The Rwanda National park service, does not take any responsibility for any injury sustained by wild animals in their habitats, hence
- Keep your flight distance about 7 metres from them and bear in mind that gorillas have freedom of way.
- Don’t feed the gorillas.
- Do not entice them to get into contact with you in any way.
- Desist from eating in the vicinity of the gorillas
Environmental Consciousness - Do not litter the park
- Always bury fecal waste with a machete that will be provided.
- The health of the Mountain Gorillas should be a concern for everyone.
- A Gorilla visit is cancelled if one develops a severe case of flu for a refund.
- Tourists shouldn’t sneeze towards the Gorillas, as this would increase the risk.
- Young people under the age of 15 are discouraged from visiting the Mountain gorillas.
