Uganda Adventure Safari – Gorilla trekking and Chimpanzees by Travelust African Safaris.

Day one:              Upon arrival on the Uganda Adventure safari, meet and greet at on arrival at the Entebbe International airport. Later, drive to the nearby Lake Victoria Serena Resort for overnight. Hotel facilities: Swimming pool, Gymnasium, massage at Maisha spa. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day two:              Morning breakfast at the hotel, and later, meet other soft Adventurers at a meeting point, before driving to the source of the River Nile.  Journey through some lush tropical forests then arrive at the longest River on earth. The day’s rafting trip on the 4000 mile river, starts with a light snack. Later, a morning learning session with the rafting guides. Have a floater jacket, helmet and a paddle oar before starting heading downstream in a series of white water.

The Nile meanders through some beautiful forests, with the occasional sightings of black and white colubus monkeys in the treetops. Meanwhile,  the local fishermen gather along the banks, to cheer rafters on. A lunch stop is a welcome relief at the river bank, or a a mid river Island. Eventually taking on the last section towards the takeout point. The rafting trip ends some 25kms downstream where alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks served. Thereafter, return towards Jinja before dark for overnight. Dinner and overnight at the Jinja Nile Resort. Hotel facilities: Swimming pool, Bar. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day three:          African White Rhino safari

Breakfast at the lodge, then depart through the Kayunga road, driving alongside the River Nile. Transfer through the farmlands of Luwero and proceed to the Nakasongola sanctuary, where a family of the African white Rhinos lives. Have a guided walk by the resident guide to the animal sighting area through Borassus Savannah. Later, have lunch, before proceeding to the Murchison Falls National Park for dinner and overnight. Hotel: Murchison Falls River Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day four:            To Fort portal and Kibale Forest

Morning breakfast at the Lodge then transfer to the Pakuba Airstrip for the morning scheduled flight to Kasese through Entebbe. The transfer vehicle will transfer from the airfield to Fort portal for lunch. Later, transfer to the Ndali Lodge to have the evening by the swimming pool. The lodge overlooks the Ruwenzori Mountains situated at the top of a Crater Lake. Dinner served family style with your host Aubrey Price subject to his availability. Overnight at Kibale’s Ndali Lodge.

Day Five:              Morning breakfast at the Lodge, before your driver guide meeting you this morning for the departure to the Kibale Chimpanzee Forest National park. You drive through the farmlands and forest margins, before heading to the Chimp trek briefing offices. The briefing and guide allocations start at about 08:00am and the trek begins thereafter. Trekking through the jungle of Kibale as we listen to calls of the chimpanzees and the colubus monkeys. See other primates, which include the Olive Baboons, Grey Cheeked Mangabeys, the rare red colubus, red-tailed monkeys. Vervet monkeys and forest bird species which may include the pretty looking crested guinea fowl.

Chimpanzee trekking experience

The chimps on the ground hunting; playing, fighting, hopefully, baby making or feeding in the treetops. The trekkers will follow the troop of about 20 to over 60 individuals through the forest. The tour ends one hour later when the return to the base ends with a picnic lunch break. Later, have a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamps on the board walk where one can see the papyrus gonolek. Great Blue Turaco, Bush pigs, Sitatunga, Bush buck African Civet, vervet monkeys as well as the red tailed monkeys. Support the local women’s groups by buying a basket, made from the local materials harvested from the papyrus swamps. Later, return through the Crater Lakes and proceed to have your dinner at the Ndali Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day six:               Semuliki Sempaya hotsprings

The morning adventure trip out of Kibale has us departing after a morning breakfast heading to the meandering roads of Semuliki. On arrival, you visit the hot springs at the park and have a tour of the boiling geysers before heading to the Lake Albert arriving in time for lunch at a private tented camp right at the edge of the Lake. Spend the afternoon relaxing by your Balcony enjoying the breeze as you see the local fishermen casting their nets. Overnight at the Ntoroko Game Lodge.

Day Seven:          Morning breakfast and proceed through the National Park and on to the Maramagambo Forest where you will have a mid morning visit to the Bat Caves. In these caves, see thousands of Egyptian Fruit bats hanging upside down in the day. The resident African rock pythons emerge to feed on them from the rocks below. Later, transfer to the peninsular at Mweya, following the Lakeside tracks in hope of finding the animals heading to the water in the afternoon high temperatures. Have lunch at the Lodge before spending the afternoon by the pool at the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the Katara Lodge.

Day Eight:           Queen Elizabeth game viewing

We will have breakfast at the peninsular, overlooking Lake Edward and the Katwe areas, and then have a morning adventure safari on the plains of the Queen Elizabeth National park. The morning Uganda Adventure Safari drive through the channel track and the Kabatoro gate tracks may yield the Elephants, Warthog, Leopard, Giant Forest hog, Bushbuck, Uganda Kob and the Hyenas. Later, the drive to the hunting areas of the Lions to see predator kills, with the nosy Hyenas lurking around. The white back vultures converge at the treetops. The harems of the elegant Uganda Kobs face the direction of the animals of prey.

You may also see Water buck, Cape buffalo and other interesting bird species before returning to the Lodge for an afternoon swim. After lunch at Mweya, the boat cruise by open pontoon will start from the pier and will take tourists to the nearby banks for close-up wildlife viewing of Cape buffalo, Elephants drinking at the river, Monitor lizards, Pied Kingfishers, Malachite Kingfishers, Giant forest hogs, Uganda Kob or the Deffassa waterbucks. White and pink backed pelicans will be encountered after sailing through hundreds of hippo in schools. Return later in the evening for dinner and overnight at Katara Lodge.

Day Nine:           Ishasha plains to Bwindi

This morning, the drive down south with a picnic lunch which will be served along the way to Bwindi. The drive through the plains of grasslands and the forested patches of forests may yield the occasional red-tailed monkeys, Cape buffalo that can be observed wallowing in the mud by the roadside, troops of the Olive Baboons holding onto their little babies and the Elephants. The Uganda Adventure Safari through the Ishasha plains may be rewarded with the rare sightings of the tree climbing Lions, which may be spotted by the main road up in the fig trees. Look out for the Topis, Impala and the warthogs before heading into the traditional homesteads towards the Impenetrable forests of Bwindi. Arrive for an early check in to enjoy the evening spa experience before dinner and overnight at your Luxury Mountain gorilla Tented Camp.

Day Ten:             Gorilla hike

Morning private breakfast at your balcony at the edge of the Impenetrable forest or communally at the main restaurant. Later, the day’s gorilla trekking experience would start with a short drive to the briefing area where the Tourism Officials will conduct a briefing about the day’s gorilla trek. Following the allocation of guides and trackers, the trekking would start from a trail-head at the forest boundary and the walk would be led by your guide, together with the trackers. Your gorilla trek involves hiking through some thick tropical rain forests with vines and ferns. Once the gorillas are located, the viewing time allowed would be approximately 60 minutes and ends with a bush lunch before heading back to base for dinner and overnight at your Luxury Mountain gorilla Tented Camp.

Day Eleven:        Flight to Entebbe – Lake Victoria Paradise

After the Uganda Adventure Safari, breakfast at the lodge and transfer to the airstrip for the flight to Entebbe. You thereafter transfer to Kihiihi on a one hour road transit and take a 1 hour Aerolink flight to Entebbe. On arrival, you will be transferred to the Private Islands by speedboat where you will arrive for meals and overnight at the Bulago Pineapple Bay Resort.

Day Twelve:        Morning wake up at leisure then enjoy the serene wilderness of the Tropical Sandy Beaches along the Islands of Bulago. There are walking trails in the forested areas and rocky outcrops. Meanwhile, see breeding colonies of birds along the shoreline. In the evenings, you are treated to the bonfire and cocktails by the infinity pool enjoying the night sights and sounds from the crickets and waves from the Lake Victoria. Meals and overnight at the Bulago Pineapple Bay Resort.

Day Thirteen:      Another day relaxing in the hammock overlooking the expansive blue waters of Lake Victoria. Alternatively, enjoy the private massages at the spa and take a dip in the Swimming pool. Organic meals are grown on the Island and you may want to take a look around the gardens before overnight at the Bulago Pineapple Bay Resort.

Day Fourteen:   Entebbe return

Morning breakfast and sail back to the mainland by speedboat. Have the afternoon exploring the Botanical Gardens , in search of the black and white colubus monkeys and birds. Most of the plants are labeled by the English and scientific names and you can have a self guided walk without the need to take a guide. Later, your safari guide transfers to the nearby Lake Victoria Hotel for overnight. Booked on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day Fifteen:        Morning breakfast at the Hotel and assisted check out by the front office team.  Assisted with the luggage and transfer to the shuttle to the airport. The Uganda Adventure safari services finally end with check-in for the home-bound flight.
