Queen Elizabeth Uganda Safari with Ishasha, 6 days tour

Day one:              Your representative meets at your overnight hotel in Kampala or Entebbe to begin the Queen Elizabeth Uganda safari.  Later on, drive through the congested suburbs of Kampala with their traditional shops eases through the Mengo and Rubaga areas. On the way to the Uganda Equator, you may will stop for a stretch and taking pictures. Driving through Central Uganda, you will see the traditional farmers tending to their gardens of plantain and coffee.

Later, proceed to the town of Mbarara following a drive-by safari close to Lake Mburo National park. See animals Like the Impala, Zebra or Topi grazing close to the main road. After lunch, transfer through the steep hills of Kigezi and approach the Queen Elizabeth Uganda safari park from Kihiihi. Arrive for an evening game viewing drive in the fig trees in search of Lions, Uganda Kob, Topi and cape buffalo. Later, proceed to your overnight safari lodge or private tented camp for dinner and overnight. Transit time:       Approximately 8 hours.

Day Two:            Ishasha Wildlife safari

Breakfast early and depending on where your overnight accommodations are, begin a morning Queen Elizabeth Uganda safari. In the Ishasha section of Savannah grasslands and fig trees, try to spot the tree climbing Lions. The elephants that traverse the Ishasha and the Virunga national parks from the adjacent Democratic Republic of Congo. They splash about and drink water from the banks of the River Ntungwe near large concentrations of hippos. The safari in your open topped jeep would highlight more of the wildlife of the area which includes; Cape buffalo, reed buck, bird species like the Bateleur eagle, yellow throated long claw, black winged stilts and other wildlife. You may return to your overnight safari camp or Lodge before another evening animal viewing. Tour of the park in search of Hyena, Leopard, Warthog and others before dinner and overnight at your accommodations.

Day Three:          Breakfast at your safari camp or Lodge then begin a drive north through the occasional troops of Baboons. They line up on the main highway, as well as red tailed monkeys, black and white colubus and Elephants. You will arrive in time for lunch at the Luxury Safari lodge or mid range accommodations. Close to the Maramagambo forest or the Chambura gorge, spend the afternoon on a Chimpanzee trekking safari deep in the tropical forests. With high canopies and long vines, primates of the forest can be seen swinging from branch to branch. Thereafter, the chambura chimpanzee safari, and later transfer to your overnight accommodations arriving for dinner and overnight.

Day Four:            Kasenyi track and Kob Mating grounds

Breakfast early and begin the morning game viewing safari starting from the scenic viewing point. Eventually, head Into the northern confines of the park. The Uganda Kobs have established a mating ground of some sort. Most of the lion prides may be seen on the morning hunts in this area where the distracted Uganda Kobs and other animals like the Cape buffalo, Bush bucks and water bucks are stalked and hunted from the nearby thickets.

Other animals to be seen are usually seen close to the channel tracks where Hippo, Warthog, Giant forest hogs, Elephant and hyenas are seen. Thereafter, have lunch then a boat game viewing safari on the 40 metres Kazinga channel along the banks. Scouting for the thirsty wildlife come down for a drink, animals seen on the channel include Elephants, Giant forest hog, Bush buck, Uganda Kob and the occasional Leopard. Monitor lizard, Nile crocodile, birdlife consisting of pink backed pelicans, African skimmer, Cormorant, whiskered Terns, Black crake and other water birds. Later in the evening, you will transfer with a sunset game drive back to your accommodations for dinner and overnight.

Day Five:             Queen Elizabeth Craters and evening safari

Another morning game drive to the Crater area of Queen Elizabeth National park which is a haven for large herds of Elephants and herds of Cape buffalo. The morning will include a visit to the Katwe salt mines where workers tend to their allotted sections in the Crater Lake for processing and harvesting salt. Depending on the season, colorful flamingos can also be seen feeding off algae on the Lake. In the afternoon, you will have another game drive in the park to maximize chances of seeing the big cats before heading back to your overnight accommodations at Queen Elizabeth Uganda park.

Day Six:                Breakfast at your camp or lodge and get assisted with check out before heading towards Mbarara across the East African rift valley. A long the way, you will be driving through farms of Bananas and will also be seeing the Ankole Long horned cattle as they graze on the hilly grasslands before stopping for lunch. Later, proceed through the Lake Victoria basin arriving back in Kampala or Entebbe for your evening departure flight.
