2 days Ngorongoro Tour, Tanzania safari starting from Arusha
Day 1:
Start the Ngorongoro tour with a transfer you from your overnight accommodation in Arusha. Later on, transfer through the northern Tanzania safari country through the villages of karatu. The trip to the Ngorongoro Conservation area is through a section of semi arid grasslands. The local masai tribes tend to their cattle, meanwhile leading goats to the watering holes. The drive up the Ngorongoro highlands gets to the National park gate as payment formalities finalized by the safari guide. Arrive at your lodge in Ngorongoro, then spend the evening relaxing by the swimming pool. You could also explore the nearby Crater area from the lodge before having dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Sopa or Serena Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Tanzania Safari Tour
The morning starts with an early breakfast thereafter, the guide will pick you up from your hotel for the morning excursion into the crater for the morning Ngorongoro Tour of Tanzania. Thereafter, the steep descent into the Ngorongoro Crater takes an an estimate of about 1 hour. Stopping along the way at view points, to see the Crater Lakes at the bottom of the Crater. The morning game drive begins in a convoy of other tourist safari vehicles spotting game in open vehicles.
Spotted Hyenas on the trail of lions try to scavenge for a meal, while the lionesses stalk buffalo on the Savannah bush land. Lookout for the elusive leopard, a rare sighting, feeding in the trees canopies. Warthogs with their young ones scamper with their antennae like tails in the air at the sound of cars. Also, look out for jackals especially next to the Lion Kills and some Hippos which submerge in the water in the day’s heat.
Safari at Ngorongoro Crater floor
The rare Rhinos graze on the plains, while long columns of the Wildebeest go on for hours. Grant’s Gazelle in the usual black and white behinds and their spiral horns trek towards the Lake area. Ostriches travel in breeding pairs, but on rare occasions are accompanied by newborn chicks. For the bird lovers, please look out for the Superb starling, crowned crane, Augur buzzard and ox-peckers. We will have our picnic lunch before driving back to the top of the crater. This is another steep drive up to the top of the Crater and ends a in a forested region of the Ngorongoro where some primates may be observed. You may stop along the way to take pictures of the Masai tribes people, or views of the Lake Manyara and the Baobab trees. Thereafter, our safari guide proceeds to Arusha to drop off at your base in the early afternoon.
