Mountain Gorillas and Lake Victoria Safari Uganda, 7 Days tour.
Day One: Start your Gorillas and Lake Victoria safari with an arrival at Entebbe Airport. Transfer to the Lake Victoria Laico Hotel for check in and the remainder of the day relaxing by the pool. Alternatively, enjoying a self guided walk along the shores of Lake Victoria and the Botanical Gardens.
Day two: After breakfast, you will have an early departure to the Uganda Equator at Kayabwe. Experiments prove that water at the Equator flows anti clockwise and on the other, the drains clockwise. After a little bit of stretching, the trip heads out through several agricultural plantations of maize and bananas as well as sweet potatoes sold by the roadside.
You will see the loofers and the local African drum stalls as you eventually head out into the western Uganda on a very good road. Herds of the indigenous Ankole cattle will welcome you to Mbarara where you will have lunch. Later, set off towards the highlands of Kigezi nicknamed the ‘’little Switzerland of Africa’’. On arrival at Bwindi, have a welcome drink and warm towels and will check in into your rooms for a refreshing shower before dinner by candle light. Later, you will proceed to your accommodation at the Gorilla’s Resort for overnight.
Day Three: Wake up early and head out to the dining area for the morning breakfast. Then escorted to the tracking site for a gorilla tour briefing at Buhoma. These Great Apes that live in the Tropical Rain forests on Africa, Mountain gorillas are almost 100% vegetarian and due to their immense size, they move long distances to fill their bellies which makes for a strenuous climb in having to keep pace with them.
Finding the Mountain gorillas
The gorilla family is scouted by the local trackers and the trekking party is given coordinates of the shortest way to get to them. Your gorilla guide will thereafter lead guests to a family of the gentle giants. These are found feeding, sunning, playing or grooming in the forest. You will be accorded an hour to view the Mountain gorillas and later, a picnic lunch at a safe distance away from the gorilla group. Later, you will pick up your gorilla trek certificate before heading back to your overnight accommodations for dinner and overnight.
Day Four: After an early morning breakfast, your guide will transfer with a picnic lunch or stop along the way for a hot lunch. You will transfer to the edge of the Lake Victoria arriving in the early afternoon at the landing site in Bukakata. The scheduled ferry on Lake Victoria will then transfer to the Kalangala district where you will be met by the lodge staff and transferred to your rooms for check in. The evening will be spent relaxing by the pool or strolling along the sandy beach with hope of spotting the African Fish Eagle and the little egrets. Meals and overnight at the Brovad Sands Hotel.
Day Five: Lake Victoria Ssesse Islands
Breakfast at leisure and later on, have the day at leisure to take part in a forest walk in the tropical forests teeming with black faced vervet monkeys and butterflies. You could alternatively organize a Nile Perch fishing trip on the Lake with the local fishermen. Afterwards, you could take a break under the shade to have a suntan as you recuperate from the gorilla hike. Meals, entertainment and overnight at the Brovad Sands Hotel.
Day Six: After an early morning breakfast, you will then transfer to the Jetty to board the Entebbe bound Ferry. After Lunch at the Faze Three Restaurant or at another place of choice, proceed to your last night in Uganda accommodation for overnight at the Lake Victoria Laico Hotel.
Day Seven: Breakfast at the Hotel then check out. Later, transfer to the airport for your departure flight. A 5 minutes drive by the Lake Victoria Hotel Shuttle to end the Gorillas and Lake Victoria Safari .
