Zanzibar and swahili culture – Ancient Arabic sites, guided tour
Day 1
Pick up on arrival at the airport and transferred to Zanzibar stone town to start the Swahili and Zanzibar tour. Depending on the time of arrival, you could drive through the old buildings built from as far back as the 1930s. Later, arrive at your Hotel in Stone Town booked on a bed and breakfast basis for the Zanzibar and swahili culture tour. The evening can be spent on the hotel premises enjoying a swim at the pool, or indulging at the Spa. Overnight at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel.
Day 2:
Morning full breakfast at the Hotel. Later, you will have time to wander around this Swahili destination of colorful zanzibari tribes people who go about with their way of life. You are welcome to visit the former slave markets on a 4 days Zanzibar tour walking on foot. Visit the old ruins of this former coastal trading center that became the sultanate of Zanzibar. You will get to visit the local fishing villages and get to see the old dhows that sailed across the Indian ocean into Arabia and the far east carrying merchandise. Later, have a guided stroll through the clove farms to see the different spices before lunch. In the early afternoon, you will sail by the local Swahili dhow and proceed to the Mangapwani beach. Later in the evening, returning for dinner and overnight at the Overnight at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel.
Day 3 Spice tour Zanzibar
Morning breakfast, then pick up your picnic lunches for the day trip to the Kizimmbani Village where several exotic spices are grown. You then have a guided tour by your Swahili guide, cum translator who will be pointing out the farming methods and processing of different spices. Then be able to see cinnamon growing, ginger, nutmeg, lemon grass growing. At the same time, you can also see the growing of breadfruit, jack fruit, coconut, apples and many others. The evening may be spent interacting with the local Swahili families before heading back to your Lodge for overnight at the Zanzibar Palace Hotel.
Day 4
Finally, the morning breakfast at the hotel, before your transfer vehicle transfers to the airport for the departure flight.
