Tanzania Camping safari – 6 day Serengeti, Manyara and Ngorongoro Budget tour

Day 1:
Start your Tanzania Camping safari from either Arusha or on arrival at the Kilimanjaro Airport. You are introduced to your driver guide and cook and set off for Lake Manyara National Park. An afternoon drive towards the Lake yields sightings of flamingos, Lions, wildebeest and other wildlife. On arrival, the cook will provide lunch before an evening game drive which ends with dinner and overnight at the camping site.

Day 2:
Morning breakfast then proceed to the Serengeti game reserve arriving for game viewing in the early afternoon. After lunch, a game drive will seek out the Lions and cheetahs that are usually hiding out on the kopjes hunting for gazelle. Zebras and wildebeest in their thousands can be seen as they move on their annual migrations to find fresher grasses. The trip concludes before dark, when you return to your base for dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Camping accommodation site in the park.

Day 3
Morning breakfast at your budget camp site thereafter, an extended game viewing drive in the Serengeti wildlife reserve. The full day of game viewing only halts for the lunch break on the Savannah plains, either as a picnic lunch, or at your base for a warm lunch. The game viewing concentrates in the areas where the migrations will be headed. Hyenas are always on the move stalking young wildebeest calf, while the Lions, cheetahs and jackals would be hunting for gazelle on these African plains. The day ends with a return to your mobile campsite for dinner and overnight at a Mobile Camp.

Day 4:  Ngorongoro Crater

Breakfast early and proceed to the Olduvai Gorge. You will have a guided tour of the place where remains of the earliest humans were discovered by the Leaky family in the 1960s. After lunch, we depart for the overnight accommodations towards the crater rim for dinner, before either setting up camp or spending the night at a low priced overnight accommodation near the Ngorongoro crater.

Day 5:
Morning breakfast then descend by safari vehicle into the Crater of Ngorongoro. The steep descent into the Crater begins through the steep sides of the reserve. Thereafter, vehicles in their hundreds head down into the crater base for photo opportunities. Wildlife viewing close to the lake where to spot the Black Rhino grazing through the shrubs, Hyenas sightings on hunts or trying to steal from the lions or cheetah, Cape Buffalo and the flamingos. A picnic lunch is served on the game drive before driving back to the top of the crater for dinner and overnight either in karatu of other mobile camp of your choice.

Day 6:
Should you wish, and time is allowing, you may visit the local Hadzabe tribesmen that are allied to the San tribes of Namibia, who have lived in this area for over 600 years. Alternatively, have breakfast in the morning and later transfer to Arusha arriving in the early afternoon or proceed to the airport for your departure flight.
