Murchison falls Safari tour, 7 Days trip
Day one: The Murchison falls safari tour begins with a morning transfer from your overnight accommodation. Either departing out of Entebbe or from your hotel in Kampala to start a 3 hour drive to Nakasongola. Arrive mid morning for a rhino walking safari to with the ranger guides. At the sanctuary, you will be seeing herds of the endangered African white rhinos on the Savannah plains. Afterwards, lunch in Masindi and proceed to the park and arrive in the evening for overnight at the Budongo Eco-lodge. Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner.
Day Two: Morning breakfast and start the morning chimpanzee trekking on the Murchison falls safari at the Kaniyo pabidi. A Troop of Chimpanzees has been habituated in this forest and can be accessed from several trails. Your guide will be pointing out other wildlife and different tree species with their medicinal properties. You will be allowed to stay with the chimpanzees for about an hour before driving to the top of the Murchison Falls.
The river Nile flows through a tiny gorge in the rocks at this point and cascades in a series of white water rapids. You will observe other wildlife in the area which may include hippo, as well as the rock pratincoles. If time allows, you will walk through the trail to the Baker’s summit to have a wider view of two sets of the Murchison falls. Later, drive through the acacia vegetation and proceed across the Nile to the Paraa Safari Lodge. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day Three: Breakfast at your lodge balcony with beautiful vistas of the River Nile amid grunts of the resident Hippos. Later, head down to the river and take the morning delta trip to the Marshes of papyrus to see Goliath Heron. Also seen on the delta trip are hordes of Hippo, rare shoe billed stork and the elephants. Sail towards Lake Albert, seen by the first European Samuel Baker in the 1860s before returning to the Lodge to have lunch and spend the evening relaxing by the pool. Meals and overnight at the Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day Four: Morning breakfast and have the morning Murchison falls safari tour on the Victoria track. Then look out for giraffe feeding across the valleys of Borassus trees. Hartebeest and the shy Oribi are usually seen in the same area. Elephants and Cape buffalo grazing near the airstrip are a sight to behold. Later, look for the lions on the morning kill or the treetops for the elusive leopard. Drive past the Delta area and see the Victoria Nile end into Lake Albert before exiting as the Albert on the way into Sudan. Lunch and the evening at the lodge relaxing by the pool. Meals and overnight at the Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day Five: Breakfast at leisure and take another Murchison falls wildlife viewing safari through the Nyamsika flats. You will be looking out for Olive Baboon, Uganda Kob, Water buck, leopard and birds on the delta area. Later on in the afternoon, have a memorable safari on the placid waters of the Nile. See crocodiles basking on the banks, African fish eagles, red throated bee-eaters and hundreds of Hippos. Eventually, dock a couple of feet at a mid-river Island. At the bottom of the falls at fajao and take pictures of the Murchison falls from below. Later, glide back on the launch trip to the Paraa area and have dinner before overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day Six: Morning cross to the south bank after breakfast and return through the town of Masindi. The first explorers used Masindi as a stopover and one of the first hotels in Uganda was built here in the 1923 by the East African Railways and Harbors. Later, proceed to Kampala arriving in the early afternoon. Proceed to the shores of Lake Victoria and overnight at the Lake Victoria Serena Resort.
Day Seven: Breakfast at the hotel and later, your Travelust African Safaris guide will pick up from here to transfer to the airport on a 40 minutes transfer to Entebbe.
