Shu’mata luxury tented camp is a top range safari lodge on the fringes of Arusha National park, with a commanding view atop one of the mountains facing the African wilderness.
This rustic accommodation is comprised of oversized, airy safari tents furnished with artifacts and antiques from the early exploration period of the last century and part of the early 1900s. The presently well-furnished 5 guest tents are equipped with an open air bush shower, bedside tables, mosquito netting, a mini lounge, wrought iron four poster beds, colorful floor carpets, decorative dressing mirrors, wardrobes, luggage racks and a private balcony from which guests watch Elephants and the other wildlife of the area.
Meals are prepared and served in the main dinning mess tent with a bonfire for the evenings. A wine selection in the bar area offers a selection of vintage wine and other drinks in the African bush. The meals are multi course ones served under candlelight from the rustic chandeliers and well set tables with views of the park. Breakfasts are sometimes had in the middle of the wilderness with all the kitchen equipment and camp staff with chef.
Guests at shumata can spend time on indoor games or utilize the camp library in the mid-afternoons when game viewing isn’t favorable. Alternatively, visits to the Maasai Bomas to see the lifestyles of these nomads can be arranged on site.
