RWANDA SAFARIS
The rwanda safaris feature trips to the different National parks. To the north of the country, the wildlife viewing safari covers the Akagera National park, where Lions have just been reintroduced. Other animals in the Akagera are the Cape Buffalo, Eland, giraffe, Water buck, warthog as well as rare bird species that Inhabit the Akagera Lake and Swamps.
Much further to the north of the Country, towards the Congo and Uganda border, lies the famous Volcanoes National park where Mountain gorillas can be viewed in their natural habitat. Here, there is also a possibility of trekking the endangered Golden Monkeys in the Bamboo forests.
Dian Fossey research center on the kabara meadow pass is also featured in our Rwanda gorilla safaris. Hikers can visit the grave of Dian Fossey and the remains of the Karisoke research center of the 1960s and 70s. The trips into the Volcanoes can also include climbing to the Mountains of Bisoke and Karisimbi where it is possible to see Crater Lakes at the top of these Mountains.
The Lake Kivu is usually a relaxing resort after days of gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes. Tourists are thereafter, occupied by water sports, relaxing by the pools at top lodges or at spas on this beautiful volcanic Lake.
History
Rwanda’s worst history is showcased at the different genocide memorials throughout the country. Guided tours by survivors, as well as those that participated in the massacres in 1994 retell the events that led to the slaughter of almost 1 million Rwandans.
Towards the border with Burundi, the lush National park of Nyungwe offers trekking experiences to the Mona monkey colonies, chimpanzees, Black and White Colobus monkeys, L hoest monkeys as well as a lovely canopy walk over the Nyungwe forest to see the other primates at tree level.
In Kigali, you are welcome to take a city tour in one of the cleanest cities in Africa, then get to interact with the local population. Alternatively, visit a couple of craft shops and coffee bars, visit the Hotel Rwanda or have a cultural experience by the Batwa before takingĀ the departure flight.
Otherwise, travel to the Lake Kivu and take the overnight cruise on the Lake to Napoleon Island. Meanwhile, other Rwanda safaris feature a canopy walk through the treetops in the Jungle.
