The day trip to Lake Manyara ngorongoro safari starts with a morning departure out of Arusha by 08:00am
Your safari guide in a private land-cruiser picks up from the overnight Arusha town before starting the Ngorongoro safari. Other than the Crater tour, the second alternative is the safari to Lake Manyara. The first option is a drive into the Ngorongoro where the descent into the crater is by 4×4 safari vehicles. Your guide explains the different ecosystems of the crater, including wildlife as well as the formation of different landscapes.
At the base of the Crater Area in the Ngorongoro, we will have a game drive through some of the largest concentration of zebra, wildebeest usually followed by the Lions and Hyenas. Jackal sightings are common on the safari game drives, along with the occasional Leopard and Cheetah. The Crater Lake attracts species of bird life like the flamingos and Avocets which feed on the algae. Lookout for Black Rhinos and the Occasional Solitary Bull elephants on the Crater floor.
Manyara option
The alternative day safari to the Lake Manyara national park starts from Arusha on a one and a half hour drive into the Lake Manyara National park. Famous for its prides of tree-climbing lions, lake Manyara is one of the favorite one-day safari destinations in Tanzania taken out of Arusha on a same day arrangement. On arrival at Lake Manyara, the game drive starts through the bu infested acacia woodlands. It is the reason why the lions in this area usually escape the biting insects on the ground to take refuge in the trees.
The elephants too can be seen roaming through the Baobab forests as they forage for food and water. You can look out for Hippos from the Hippo pool and also look out for the ox peckers and enjoy the distinct sounds of the African Fish Eagles. Our safari ends with a lunch break before heading back in Arusha town before dusk.
